Cats And Dogs ‘n’ Stuff

4 July, 2007

Hm, I really don’t have time for this (work, work, work), but then, it IS necessary:

You see, I have been trying to discover and predict weather with a little help of weather reports for our parts of Sweden, to avoid wardrobe malfunctions during the holiday. It turns out nothing is as easy as finding a clear pattern:

Monday: rain.

Tuesday: rain.

Wednesday: rain.

Thursday: you know.

Friday: well, what did I expect.

It makes me want to cry, only tears are also a kind of rain. A private rain. And I don’t cry. A big girl, me.

I did get an interesting link from my hubby, though:

Should you have too much time on your “mouse fingers”, how about checking the weather worldwide?

I am going to check the weather on Canary Islands now and then pretend it is Sweden. NOT. :-(

UPDATE: Maybe this will help (cf. Comments)

  1. This is also called a climate disaster ;) Do you want some more :)

  2. Robert: I don’t think so, actually. I have done quite a few rainy Sweden holidays in my life and they are considered normal :-) . I was just hoping the warmer climate would work, just like last summer, when we had 3 weeks of nice, warm weather and we could swim and stuff.

  3. According ot this source that proved to be very reliable, Friday will be cloudy but not rainy. There is only 20 % chance of precipitation for Thursday (this is good enough for me), Saturday and Sunday will be rainy.

  4. Oh, thank you. This would be good news, but I need Västra götalands län and Värmlands län to be warm and dry by the end of July (nice rhyme, no?) and you had a look at Stockholm, which is something “completely different”… I mean, we are going there, too, but then the weather won’t be important, because we won’t be sitting in a boat…

  5. Ah, that’s too bad. I wish I could do something. ;)

  6. Actually, we have a trick that may help: we have pulled out our book about Finland and have been discussing plans about going there, should it rain without interruption in Dalsland… So we discuss these plans outloud and often and hope to be heard by the Swedish Weather God, He Who Is Above Us – maybe it will work :-D

  7. I wish you all the best with the weather. :) And, hei – visit Finland. Seriously! ;)

  8. Yeah! We are going TO FINLAND if it rains too much in Dalsland! :-)

(We’ve been to Finland – a bit. Namely on Aland Islands. We arrived in Mariahamn on time to spend an hour in a museum. At least that is what our watches told us. The nice lady at the door told us they were closing. This is how I learned about the time difference :-) But yes, we are going to visit Finland, that’s for sure.)

  9. Åland Islands are still much more Sweden to me. :) Well, they are autonomous, but the language is Swedish… Of course, I recommend true Finland. Helsinki, Turku, national parks with deep forests… and so on.

  10. Yes, you’re right about Ålands. If we go to Finland this year (weather, do you hear me?!), we’ll try to get to a lake area somewhere in the middle (= drive from Sweden via Åland Islands to Finland by ferries). We plan to do Helsinki some day, too, but actually this is not supposed to be an urban holiday, so the nature is more important.

  11. It is raining in Ljubljana as crazy since morning, btw, so I sit at the comp. What else to do? :D Oh, yes, plenty of nature up there. Helsinki are the biggest Finnish city. And the only one bigger than Ljubljana. The rest are smaller… Nuuksio National Park is great spot to visit, then. Very close to Helsinki. Well, Mid-Finland still awatis me, too. :)

  12. Mah joj, pri nas isto… za zjokat… phe pa takšno poletje…
