A Nice Symbol
18 February, 2008(A disclaimer is in order here: It’s Monday and I have one thing only on my mind: How and when to reproduce dr. Filomena’s Cinnamon Cake… I also wanted to write much more on the topic below than I did in the end, so I may have to return to it one day. But let us go now, you and I.)
It is not due to a coincidence or even adverse labour market circumstances that I have always been a freelancer – it’s simply the mode of work and life I prefer. Like someone said somewhere: “Freelancers are people who prefer to work 16 hours a day so that they don’t have to work 8 hours a day for someone else.”
So, since I am basically responsible for my own success, a good, solid symbol to lead me through my independence is OK, don’t you think?
Would it surprise you to learn that I chose Primož Trubar? After all, he was basically the first Slovenian translator, a Protestant reformer (I do find the presence of mother tongue in all spheres of life very important) and is the face of the Slovenian 1 Euro coin:
(inscription: To Stand And Withstand)
What else does one need? There’s the job, the money and the leitmotif.
I’m not superstitious, no. But I do recognise a good symbol when I see one.

Interesting point!
And I, too, am looking forward to putting “the final nail in the coffin” of my diet with that gorgeous cake!
Camille: isn’t that what a good diet is for?
To make us aware how good some things taste?
