“Have you, like, noticed it’s Valentine’s Day today?” I wonder while applying cream to my hands, my favourite evening routine.
“No, there’s nothing going on on my way to work and we don’t do Valentine’s at the institute as you probably know.”
“Funny, how easy it is not to be exposed to it if you live in a village.” I smile and my wedding ring falls out of my mouth. I stop applying my cream and want to retrieve the ring from the bottom of the bookcase, but he’s faster:
“Gollum,” he says and hands me the ring.
I can’t stop laughing.
