Me: “Yes, I am quite aware that we as the nearest meta universal candidates are doing loads of useless things instead. A half of us thinks the other half is less worthy because it lacks a certain dangling attachment between the legs, there have always been belief entities of different kinds, material and immaterial, in whose name it has been allowed to do away with non-believers too many times and most of us throw away things pretending they will just evaporate without trace in this closed cyclic system we live on. Still. No one says the Universe has already created cognizant beings that are actually going to fulfill the function they were made for.”

He: “Hm, a meta blind alley and a blind meta alley at once, is it?”

Me: “Could be, yes.”

Ena od stvari, ki jih imam skupnih s sicer odvratnim Simoninijem kot glavno osebo, je ljubezen do hrane. Simonini se sicer konec 19. stoletja v Italiji in v Parizu nažira z mesninami, kombiniranimi in pripravljenimi na čuden način (po principu: ovčja glava, napolnjena z mletim zajčjim mesom, tri dni viseča na pariškem balkonu, potem pa tri ure kuhana s čebulo, česnom in svinjskimi ledvičkami ter zabeljena s smetano in materino dušico in postrežena s krušnimi kockami), zato te recepte pri branju preprosto spustim. Njegovo strast do hrane vseeno zelo dobro razumem, kako ne bi, če pa sem naštrikana povsem enako.

“A je v redu, če še enkrat naredim listnato testo z nadevom?” me plašno vpraša moj novi nedeljski kuhar, ki sem ga v redkem trenutku jasne presoje poročila, na srečo.

Seveda je v redu!

Recimo, da sem prispevek Sergeja Toubiana o filmu Intouchables vsaj približno razumela. Saj pravim: vsaj približno . Serge med drugim pravi:

Und wie bringt man einen Softwareanbieter dazu, die durch den PC-Defekt nicht mehr zu verwendende Software wieder zu aktivieren? Man fragt nach einem Upgrade und erklärt nebenbei, man hätte aber gerade keine Lizenzen für die alte Version, da der PC kaputt sei. Einfach so die verlorenen Lizenzen unentgeltlich aktivieren zu lassen, weil man ja nicht schuld sei, dass sie verloren gingen, das geht heutzutage nicht, zumindest nicht innerhalb einer Woche. Man muss schon mit Münzen klimpern bzw. mit großen Scheinen rascheln …

Ho hooo … Nov PC z Okni 7 sploh ni slab! Pa še tih je. Dobra novica, ne da? Gondor mu je ime.

In kako prepričaš ponudnika programske opreme, da ti ponovno aktivira program, ki ga zaradi okvare računalnika ne moreš več uporabljati? Povprašaš ga za posodobitev in mimogrede razložiš, da pa ravnokar nimaš licenc za staro programsko opremo, ker se ti je pokvaril računalnik. Brezplačno aktiviranje izgubljenih licenc ni opcija, čeprav nisi sam kriv, da nimaš več licenc, to dandanes ne gre več, vsaj ne v roku enega tedna. Za to je treba žvenketati s kovanci oziroma šelesteti z velikimi bankovci …

I kid you not: unable to stand the beginning of this damn January I rationally decided I needed some entertainment. And music’s always the best choice as far as I am concerned. Apart from workout. Cinema’s okay, too, but some cheesy pop is always good.

Yeah, so the talents competing for the title The Voice of Germany are usually singing songs I consciously try to avoid by listening to serious radio stations like SWR 2 or Deutschland Radio Kultur.

But where there’s suffering, there’s the way. So far and as you know by now, I have enjoyed Pamela & Percy a few times, I have also been checking Percy again and again, but right now it seems to me Behnam‘s the one. Well, he’s the only one whose songs I bought on iTunes, anyway.

Then there’s Max Giesinger, who’s sort of my neighbour (coming from the neighbouring village, that is) and who doesn’t seem too keen to speak High German and Ivy … of course I shouldn’t forget Kim, but I’ve been waiting for her to choose a good song and not to bore me anymore with, like, radio classics …

The best music to drive these hard times away comes from the Overseas, though: Arcade Fire!!!! (thank you, Tina, once more) …

Kaj da si obetam, začetnica uboga? I, kaj: francoske zapise na teme, ki jih drugje obravnavajo v angleščini, da vsaj približno vem, kaj hočejo povedati.

Prvi glagol, ki sem se ga naučila na Le Huffington Post, je na žalost tragičen: se suicider

It turned out Émilie du Châtelet was born at a time when women need not have learned to read or write, let alone think about science. Like: mathematics and physics. At the beginning of the 18th century it was generally believed they were not suitable for such higher tasks and Émilie was very lucky to have a father and a husband who supported her, though she still couldn’t gain access to most important scientific developments and institutions of her time, at least not without a trick or five.

And then there was her most important lover: Voltaire.

Before she died, aged 41, together with her daughter she had given birth to a few days before, Émilie du Châtelet translated and commented Newton’s Principia Mathematica into French, making it more comprehensible at the same time. Hers is still a valid French translation of that monumental work.

I cannot keep wondering what she’d have been able to accomplish today: Sorbonne was opened to female students in 1860, in 1903, Marie Curie shared her Nobel Prize with her husband, since 1945, women were allowed to become Fellows of the Royal Society, in 1979, the first female full member of the French Academie of Sciences was admitted, and, last but not least, we have internet in the 21st century. And books and stuff, of course.

“Super ideja!” je bil navdušen: “Že vem, kaj bom naredil danes.”

Hujjjjj … Povem vam, počutila sem se kot grofica, tisti prvi teden januarja, ko je imel dopust. No, vsaj za časa kosila (januarju 2012 njegove napornosti ne mislim odpustiti, samo zato, ker sem prvi teden krasno jedla).

Najprej je bilo na vrsti listnato testo iz supermarketa s skrivnostno vsebino. In rukolo:

No ja, skrivnost ni bila popolna: kozji sir, bazilika, začimbe itd. Pri nama sicer velja načelo, da se ostanke hrane sme skriti v listnato testo, pa dobiš krasno kosilo. Res je. Krasno pa je tudi, če se nekdo zadevo odloči narediti po želji in ne po sili razmer.

Naslednji dan me je čakal curry z basmatijem. Pojma nimam, kako ga je naredil, recept za basmati pa na tem blogu itak objavim ene parkrat na leto, ker sem tako navdušena:

Vrhunec vsega je bil vegetarijanski kaviar:

OK, OK, hecam se: gre za črno lečo z grahom. Črna leča je krasna zadeva, sploh če ji dodamo kup začimb.

Moj ubogi mož mi sedaj mora skoraj vsak dan razlagati, da ja, res mora v službo, ker tako piše v pogodbi, in ne, ne more spet kar takoj vzeti dopusta.

Včasih je res težko z mano

“Ne, povedali so mi, da v francoščini moram vtipkati presledek pred in seveda tudi za dvopičjem, vprašajem, klicajem itd.”

“Pred dvopičjem??? Veste, ko sem jaz študirala, smo pisali na roke in s pisalnim strojem. Ampak presledki pred ločili?!?! Ne, nikakor. To ni mogoče.”

“V redu.”

Naslednji teden se prijavim na drug tečaj, ob ponedeljkih. Bomo videli, kako bo.
