Muffins with poppy seeds and marzipan

So I wanted to make muffins with poppy seeds and marzipan and didn’t know how – what’s a Moose to do? She asks her favourite Retailtherapist, of course🙂

So I used the BBC recipe for breakfast muffins Ms. Onemorehandbag suggested (simply swapping fruit, nuts and granola for 100 g poppy seeds (pre-cooked and ground) and 100 g marzipan (cubed)) and they turned out absolutely, totally yummy: I don’t like them too sweet or too wet and all I got was just the right amount of everything:

They are brownish because I used wholemeal spelt flour. Yes, those are marzipan bits you can discern – I don’t really like marzipan, but its combination with a characterful spelt flour, gentle poppy and relative lack of sugar abundance makes it really delicious.

    A potem se marcipana ne čuti tako zelo? Jaz sploh nisem fenica, bi pa probala kaj takega spečt, smo se že nasitili naše standardne galanterije muffinov …

      Ne, zelo nežnega okusa je, v tej količini in najbrž tudi zaradi toplotne obdelave (tudi nisem fenica, rada pa imam jogurt z makom in marcipanom). Pa paše k rustikalnemu okusu pirine moke z makom – mogoče bi vse skupaj izpadlo drugače z več cukra, tako pa niti ne … Vse v redu z malčkom?🙂

    zadnjič sem jedla mafine z makom in ananasom. Glede na to, da mi mak sploh ni dober, so mi bili kar všeč.🙂 Tudi niso bili preveč sladki.

      Divje zgodbice … Na blogu Onemorehandbag, kjer sem vprašala za recept, je avtorica rekla, da ne mara maka, da pa se fajn sliši. V mafine sem dala marcipan, ki ga sicer ne marava, pa je bil res v redu. Jana jih bo mogoče spekla, čeprav ni ljubiteljica marcipana, da bo nekaj novega v bajti, ti pa si jedla mafine z makom in ananasom, ki so ti bili kar všeč, čeprav ne maraš maka.
