The Georgian Military Road to Gergeti Trinity Church

Let us start with the end this time: Mount Kazbek (5034 m) was hidden in fog and could not be photographed well enough.

But the Gergeti Trinity Church (2170 m) in the Greater Caucasus could. We had to drive there for we didn’t have enough time for hiking. The highest point we had reached by car was almost 2400 m.

BTW: There are only 19 to 22 breeding pairs of Bearded vultures (Gypaetus barbatus) in Georgia, meaning there are not that many of these huge birds flying around majestically and doing other vulture stuff. Here’s two of them:

    O, wauw! Čudovite fotografije, dih jemajoča pokrajina.

      Ja, noro lepo je tam. Toliko bolj zanimivo, da komaj najdeš kakšno potko za vandrat (Kasbek je izjema) in da turistom na večini zanimivih področij odsvetujejo hribolazenje brez vodiča. Kot da sami ne verjamejo v hribolazništvo … V Malem Kavkazu se je domačin, ki nas je peljal v nacionalni park, na licu mesta odločil, da bo šel z nami v hribe, ker mu je bila okolica všeč. Med hojo navzgor je tu in tam kakšno pokadil, drugače pa je bil tisti dan iskreno navdušen nad svojo domovino, ravno tako domačinka, ki je tudi šla z nami😀 Še ko smo se vračali v Batumi, sta vsake toliko vzdihnila, kako lepo je bilo (res je bilo – in tip obvlada branje različnih naravnih sledov v nulo) … Le kako človek zdrži s takšnimi hribi pred vrati in ne leze nanje ob vsaki priložnosti? Saj ne, da jaz lezem visoko, hitro ali daleč …😳
